The Commission on
Elections (COMELEC) and the Philippine Consulate General is inviting Filipino
volunteers to serve as members of the Special Board of Election Inspectors
(SBEI) for the conduct of the Philippine national elections in Hong Kong
from 11 April to 10 May 2010.
The
qualifications for volunteers as provided under COMELEC Resolution No.
6466 are as follows:

Of good moral character and irreproachable
reputation;

Qualified to register and vote under the Overseas
Absentee Voting Act of 2003 (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VOLUNTEER DOES
NOT HAVE TO BE AN ACTUAL REGISTERED VOTER. SHE IS ONLY REQUIRED
TO BE A PERSON QUALIFIED TO REGISTER AND VOTE);

Has never been convicted of any election offense
or of any crime punishable by more than six (6) years imprisonment
or has no pending case filed against her/him for any election
offense.

Is able to speak and write English or Filipino;
and,
-
He/she or his/her spouse is not related within
the fourth civil degree of consanguinity to any candidate for
President, Vice-President, Senator or to any nominee for the
party-list system of representation.

to volunteer may call the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) Secretariat at the Philippine
Consulate General at telephone 2823-8536 or 2823-8545 (please look for Ms. Rennie dela
Cruz or Ms. Noralyn Chan) on Sundays to Thursdays from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, except on
declared holidays. Interested volunteers will be subject to further screening. deadline
to sign up as volunteers is on 14 January 2010.
